Demystifying Dobbs

On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled overturned the constitutional right to abortion care through their ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

The Sound Justice Lab strives to educate people about the case, examine the history of legislation related to abortion care, and strategize to protect the right to abortion care.

At the first Demystifying Dobbs event, UVA Law professor Anne Coughlin and UVA professor Bonnie Gordon, discuss the legal principles, case history and cultural history behind the U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

Following the June 29th event, Bonnie Gordon and Anne Coughlin were invited to address Virginia chapters of the National Organization for Women.

In Dobbs, the Supreme Court ignored the 61% of Americans who say that abortion should be legal in most or all cases. How should we react when the legal system ignores citizens’ support for reproductive justice?
