Demystifying Dobbs discussion, hosted by Charlottesville NOW (virtual)
Demystifying Dobbs examines the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health that overturned Roe v. Wade. Professors Anne Coughlin and Professor Bonnie Gordon break down the loss of our constitutional right to abortion, and how this decision threatens other long-held rights, including contraception. A Q&A discussion will follow the presentation.

Performing Early Black American Music: An Exploratory Symposium
A gathering of musicians, educators, and scholars across disciplines in order to investigate techniques for recreating the musical practices of early Black Americans. Activities will include reading, writing, conversation, music-making, and listening.
Live-tweeting the Charlottesville trial: A conversation with Molly Conger.
We will host a conversation with activist and journalist, Molly Conger, on her experiences live-tweeting the recent landmark trial, Sines v. Kessler, involving the organizers of the 2017 Unite the Right rally. This event will be held in Hotel A on the lawn on Thursday, March 3 from 4:00-5:30PM.
Poetry Workshop with with Visiting Artist-Activist Moussa Yéro Bah
Moussa Yéro Bah, an award-winning journalist and activist from Conakry, Guinea, will visit UVA in February 2022. During her residency, Moussa Yéro Bah will host a poetry workshop in the New Cabell Hall Language Commons on Tuesday, February 22 from 2:00PM-3:30PM. All students are welcome to attend.

An interactive workshop on law and poetry with Amy Woolard, poet and lawyer at Legal Aid Justice Center. The event will include readings and creative exercises.
Film Screening: Sans Frapper (2019)
This event will take place in UVA’s Brooks Hall Commons, and is convened by the Sound Justice Lab, a new initiative at the University of Virginia dedicated to creative exploration of the law and its limits. Light food will be provided, and there will be 30 minutes for collective reflection and a discussion co-facilitated by SARA and the Women’s Center following the film.
